Martin Lefebvre - Calgary

A Montreal Native, Martin Lefebvre is one of Canada’s most popular and charismatic Dancesport coaches. Dancing since the age of nine, he had a successful and colourful career winning a few titles as Quebec Champion, Canadian Champion and North American Amateur Latin Champion. He has also represented Canada many times at various World Championships both as an amateur and professional.

Martin moved to Calgary in 1999 and has been running his own youth dancesport program since. He trains artists and competitors in Ballroom, Latin, Salsa, Country, Swing and Cirque du Soleil. He also works closely with ice dancers and Skate Canada. Aside from coaching, Martin also keeps busy as an event organizer and judge. He is currently focused on a new project to develop a Ballroom Dance Program for kids in the school system.

Colin James - England


Colin James was born in Portsmouth England. He started to dance at age seven and by age eight he was winning all the local age group and area competitions.

Colin met his perfect partner in 1979 and eventually went on to marry Lene Mikkelsen in 1986 in 1993 their twin daughters Tara and Zia were born in London.

During his dance career Colin became a Grand Slam winner, World, European, UK Open, British and International Champion.

Colin and Lene danced competitively from 1979 till 1991 and even before retiring in 1991 Colin's teaching career began to take off.

Today with over 30 years experience and winner of the Teacher of the Year award Colin is teacher, trainer, coach and choreographer to Amateur and Professional champions and dancers around the world.

Colin's two daughters have both followed in their parent's footsteps and Zia with her partner Petar Dasklov currently hold the British National Championship title.

Benoit Drolet


Originally from Montreal, Canada, Benoit has traveled to over 30 countries competing, demonstrating, lecturing and adjudicating. The competitive side of his career brought some amazing moments, notably making final in Blackpool, and making the final at the European Championship in 1993 representing England, something he is extremely proud of. In 1999, Benoit joined the acclaimed show Burn The Floor and went on touring for over a year throughout Australia, Europe and America. Benoit ran most of the Ballroom rehearsals as well as tweaking choreographies and coaching couples for the show. Accomplishments

Kimberly Donaghy - Calgary


Kimberly has been a Professional Ballroom Dance Instructor since 1980. For 18 of those years she was the Professional Instructor for the University of Calgary Ballroom Dance Club. She also taught dance for the Phys Ed departments at many Senior and Junior High Schools in the City of Calgary.

As a competitor she participated in both American and International Style. Her focus was International Latin where she was a Semi-Finalists at the Canadian Closed Championships. In 2005 she was the World Champion in the Diamond Showcase Division at the World Country and Western Dance Championships in Nashville.

Kim is very involved with adjudicating dance competitions. She is a Certified A+B+C+D+ Adjudicator with the CDF.

As a Dance Consultant she teaches Latin, Ballroom and Country dancing at numerous studios and venues. Her current passions are teaching Zumba(certified), BURLESQUERCISE and most recently LaBlast (certified).


Aleksandra Antonova - Calgary


Aleksandra Antonova, originally is from Ukraine. She is a Professional Ballroom Choreographer, dance teacher and Licensed adjudicator with more than 12 years of teaching, coaching and judging experience. Aleksandra has been dancing from six years old. Aleksandra has been winner and finalist of many Ukrainian and International competitions. Her students have become winners of Ukrainian and European dance competitions. In 2011 Aleksandra received the award “The best coach of the East Region of Ukraine”. In 2011 Aleksandra Antonova moved to Canada, were successfully improves her knowledge and skills. She is organizer of workshops, dance trainings with Top level teachers. Aleksandra is coordinator and owner of “Levita Dance” studio in Calgary.

Aleksandra is accepted by CDF as a:
-Licentiate Level Adjudicator in International Latin American dance program
-Licentiate Level Adjudicator in International Ballroom dance program
– Licensed WDC Adjudicator
-“A” class Level American Ballroom adjudicator

Roxana Samoila - Calgary


An accomplished dancer and a successful instructor with over 20 years of experience, Roxana is the holder of a Bachelor Degree in Physical Education and Sports. She is also a CDF certified instructor and an adjudicator for both International & American Styles.

Roxana’s dancing expertise expands well over the limits of dancesport, into the area of rhythmic gymnastics, jazz& ballet. Together with her husband, Petre Samoila own Unique Dance, a dance school recently awarded a diploma of excellence by Consulate General of Romania in recognition for a record of outstanding accomplishments beautifully demonstrated over the years.

 Her professional career, past and present is a true reflection of her unwavering commitment to excellence.


Elena Sinelnikova - Toronto


Elena Sinelnikova is 6 times Undefeated Canadian Champion – 4 times in Senior Latin and 2 times in Senior Ten Dance. With her partner Jim Deglau they were the first couple from Alberta to win a Latin and Ten Dance Canadian Championship title in Dance Sport. Jim and Elena travelled the world as Canadian representatives at World Championships in Belgium, France, Spain and England. In 2011 they became semi-finalists at the famous Blackpool Dance Festival in Senior Latin in Blackpool, England where they won over more than 80 couples from all over the world. They also placed in the top 7 at the Senior World Ten Dance Championship in April 2011.
